You Won't Mind Making Maps With these Marvelous Mindmapping Apps

We don’t know how it is for you, but sometimes things can get so busy here that our productivity can fly right out the window – if we can even remember what we are supposed to be working on! This is kind of like when your computer has to remind you that your hard drive is filling up. It’s politely telling you too dump some stuff so it can continue to think quickly and clearly.

When we need to clean our own hard drives between our ears we like to use mindmaps. Sometimes called concept maps, a mindmap is a kind of visual representation of an idea or a series of connecting ideas, broken down into scribbles and symbols that everyone on the team can understand. This kind of technique accomplishes two things: First of all it frees your brains up from having to remember all the details of a project or a concept, and – secondly – it breaks the big picture down into manageable nibbles that make the necessary tasks and goals crystal clear.

Mindmapping is especially useful when you have different departments working on the same project. For instance you are designing a new website and you need your web guy, your graphic designer and your copywriter to get on the same page. A mindmap will allow all the separate players to understand where there tasks fit into the flow while keeping track of the big picture as well. Mindmapping can also be a invaluable when generating creative ideas and brainstorming. Your mindmap can help you keep your disparate notions organized while not interfering with the flow of ideas.

Another great thing about mindmapping is that – while you can do it with just a pen and paper – it gives you an excuse to play with a number of cool, new software applications, and – of course – we love that!
