Each Wednesday our blog post is dedicated to storytelling. Stories are part of our DNA here at Ethos3. We’re adamant believers that presentations are stronger and more compelling if anchored in a story. And the evidence is clear: we’re storytelling animals. We tell ourselves stories in order to live. For the next 4 weeks, we’ll be posting excerpts of our story– the presenter’s story– from our Manifesto for Presenters. Download your copy of the e-book here.

Our words, our interactions, our presentations matter.
We believe in the power of the presentation.
Think of the ripple effect our words have. Think of the impressions we make to whom we speak. Think of the continual, spreading effect of our words. We may not change the world at large with our presentations, but if given properly, they will have a lasting effect on our audience.
If given properly.
We are visual creatures. We like sunsets and sunrises. We like mountains and lakes and beaches and oceans. We like when the leaves of trees turn yellow, red, orange in the fall, and we like it when the rain and sun mix together to surprise us with a bright rainbow.
We like beautiful things.
(Banish those bullet points! Increase that font size!)
We don’t like squinting to read small text. We don’t like watching someone read word-for-word from a bullet pointed slide. We don’t like the feeling of our chin hitting our chest as we battle to stay awake. More than anything, we don’t like feeling like our time is being wasted.
(Fewer words! Bigger visuals! Delete those run-ons!)
We are not average, we are not middle-of-the-road and we reject mediocrity. We must make our voices heard loud and clear. We must incite our audience to feel as passionately about our subject as we feel about presenting it.
We speak in grandeurs and splendors, and our words ignite passion and fervor. We are experts at generating inspiration, emotion and understanding. We intoxicate our audience with our powerful brevity.
We believe in the power of the presentation.
