On February 26th, movie stars and filmmakers will gather in Hollywood to celebrate some of last years best achievements in film at the Academy Awards (also knowns as the Oscars). Hundreds of people will sit back and enjoy the show, and one man will be in charge of keeping everyone entertained. Comedian and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting this year’s Oscars. It made us wonder, which of our Presentation Persona profiles would makes the best host?
The Activator
The Activator is best known for their energizing personalities. This makes them some of the best party hosts. Scoring high in the Sharing quadrant, Activators are energized by crowds and can roll with anything thrown their way. The Response quadrant is the second highest score, which mean party guests are likely to see the Activator mingling with different groups. The Activator lacks in Exploration and Durability, meaning they may not be fully prepared and may not seek feedback. The host may run out of drinks or cups, or may not reach out to new acquaintances after the party is over. Scheduling reminders to complete these tasks will make the Activator the best host.
The Befriender
Based off the title of this presentation persona, this party host is a lovable and friendly person. The Befriender is known for their ability to make everyone feel welcome and accommodated. With a high score in the Response quadrant, the Befriender party host will be making sure everyone is having fun, and sets aside time to speak to each guest. With low scores in the other three quadrants (Exploration, Sharing and Durability), the Befriender needs to work on self-doubt; by already possessing a likable personality, the Befriender can tackle this with time and practice.
The Captivator
The Captivator is a natural at putting on a great show. Their confidence, charisma and charm give them high scores in the Sharing, Response and Durability quadrants. This presentation persona tends to just “wing it”. The lack of preparation gives them a low score in Exploration. Guests can expect to gravitate towards this magnetic presentation persona but not get much information beforehand on when the party will end, if there will be enough room for parking, how much food to bring, and so on. Preparation can go a long way for the Captivator.
The Demonstrator
A party put on by the Demonstrator will be fully prepared. Expect to be ushered in with food and drinks ready to serve, and an agenda for the night. This presentation persona puts in the time to prepare everything about their party down to a tee. Scoring high in Exploration and Sharing, this party host is caring and entertaining. With low scores in the Response and Durability quadrants, the Demonstrator may not be sending party invitations to people outside their social circle, or be the first to approach each guest and introduce themselves. A willingness to reach out and meet new people will help the Demonstrator leave a lasting impression.
The Performer
This presentation persona sounds like the most obvious choice for a great party host. The Performer craves the spotlight and has a strong desire to wow their audience. If they feel their party guests are losing interest, the Performer is quick to come up with a solution. With the highest score being in the Sharing quadrant, the Performer party host is energized by people and a great storyteller. However, with mid-to-low scores in the Exploration, Response, and Durability quadrants, the Performer may not connect with all their guests. With a little more practicality, the Performer can throw a great party.
