What’s Hot.
Simple design and scaled-down capabilities make the Kensington presenter extremely simple to use. USB storage within the controller makes life easier.
What’s Not.
Lack of fancier features, like mouse control, might disappoint some users.
The bottom line.
Kensington’s wireless presenter is a well-priced remote that provides the most frequently used functions in a straightforward and friendly design.
The Kensington Wireless Presenter is a reliable plug-and-play presentation remote that includes the basic necessities. The remote features only 4 buttons to cover the most useful functions: next slide, previous slide, laser pointer and blank screen. If you are someone who scares easily when it comes to technology and panics at the sight of too many buttons, this is a good remote for you. The layout on the remote face allows you to easily memorize button placement and use them without having to look at the remote. The remote’s figure-eight shape also makes it easy to hold.
While the red laser feature allows you to pinpoint important areas of your slides with gusto, the blank screen function lets you dim slides during side conversations. The remote’s wireless technology allows you to control your presentation from a distance of 60 feet. Although other remotes achieve a greater roaming distance, I can’t imagine why you would need to roam all that far during a presentation.
The remote uses a wireless USB receiver that stores inside the controller, which makes losing the USB much less likely. A nice added feature, stowing the USB away automatically turns the remote off to save battery power.
The Kensington Wireless Presenter proves a good presentation tool for those looking to use basic remote functions without too much thought. Presenters aiming to impress audiences with remote tricks and mouse acrobatics, however, will need to search for a remote that offers more “gadgety” features.
