The bottom line.
Tweetie provides a world of functionality that will allow you to do just about anything you want with your Twitter account on your iPhone.
Atebit’s new Twitter client for iPhone and iPod touch, is the best thing to happen to Twitter addicts yet!
Of all the Twitter clients on the market, Tweetie proves to be the best one yet. This app includes more options than any other and incorporates everything into a clean and easily-navigable interface. With Tweetie, you can, among other things, manage multiple Twitter accounts, post tweets, view reply chains and create tiny URL links.
When you open the app, you’ll see four buttons: Tweets, Replies, Messages and Favorites. An additional “More” button allows you to access your profile, your followers, those you follow, the search function and trends (you’ll never be the last to hear about Susan Boyle again).
Under “Tweets,” you can scroll through tweets and post and email links to tweets. You can also repost and reply to tweets and mark your favorites. When you click “Replies,” you will see all of the @replies tweeted at you highlighted in blue. Clicking “Messages” will bring you to your inbox.
If you tap a user’s name, Tweetie will bring up that user’s profile. From this page, you can start or stop following the user, see who he follows, and search recent tweets and @replies. When you tap the public reply option, Tweetie automatically adds the user’s name after the @ symbol.
Other cool functions include the instapaper offline viewing feature and image options. If, while browsing the web, you find a page that you want to read later without having to access the Internet, you can send it to your Tweetie instapaper and read it anywhere. You can also take a photo or select an existing photo and post the image to Twitpic to display it on Twitter. Tweetie includes additional image compression size options and image service choices (mobypicture and yfrog).
Through your iPhone settings, you can change your Tweetie theme (3 options), font size and display name. You can also change your loading options to load more or fewer tweets at start-up (20 tweets is the default). The new Tweetie also includes a landscape keyboard option for users who prefer it.
Most intriguing is Tweetie’s “Nearby” button that, when tapped, shows you everyone who is Twittering around you. Soon you’ll know just how many silent tweets are floating all around you.
