Dan Pink recently made a great post about Barack Obama and the power of having one-word equity. His post in a nutshell was this: when you think of of the word HOPE, who do you think of? Any guesses? Hope=Barack Obama. That’s one-word equity. It’s an idea that was created by Maurice Saatchi. You can read more here.
Well, it got me thinking about presentations. Your presentation is your one opportunity to shine. It’s that make or break moment so why not develop some one-word equity for yourself? I have talked about this quite a bit with the idea of branding or creating a theme for your presentation. However, let’s take it one step further. Frame your presentation around one word, something that will resonate with your audience and ultimately be remembered forever. Are you a VP of Sales? Why not tailor your presentation around the word Momentum or Forward? Wouldn’t it be great if everyone associated you to the word “Momentum” for the rest of your career? That’s powerful one-word equity.
