While at PPT Live I had the opportunity to spend a few minutes with Nancy Duarte of Duarte Design. We talked about her new book, Slideology and everything else related to presentations and great storytelling. We were also able to grab a quick lunch with Julie Terberg of Terberg Design and Janine Kurnoff of The Presentation Company.

As for the purpose of this post, Nancy gave a great keynote entitled “Natural Born (visual) Storytellers.” The presentation covered everything from how to handle narrative to delivering with passion. The 4 main takeaways were the following:
1. Tell Great Stories
We are all great storytellers but so few of us capitalize on the opportunity.
2. Show, Don’t Tell
Take advantage of your moment to demo your product or service.
3. Reach Beyond the Projector
Utilize resources like your iPhone or SlideShare.
4. Deliver Profound Experiences
At the end of the day, it is all about you. The audience is there to hear you speak. Put your heart and soul into your next presentation.
