How to Be a Presentation God

For our CEO and Founder Scott Schwertly, writing a book was less a career milestone and more the fulfillment of a lifelong personal goal. If you ask anyone who has ever tried to write one, though, they’ll tell you that the hardest part is figuring out what exactly you plan to tell the world about itself.

That part took care of itself when Scott sat through one too many boring, half-baked presentations. He didn’t set off to write a book about it; he just started our little presentation design company. After 4 years of advising clients on the best way to project themselves in front of an audience, he had a few things to say–so he said them.

How to Be a Presentation God is funny because Scott is. Yes, we do tie-wearin’ financial reports, but the moment we take ourselves too seriously is the moment a solid group of individuals stop paying attention to us. The book provides the brass-tacks of successful presentation design without getting hung up on pesky words like “kerning”, “cadence”, or “may I have your attention please”–a phrase which more or less proves that you may not, whomever the audience.

At the end of the day, though, How to Be a Presentation God is not a humor book, nor is it a design book. It’s the sum of 4 years’ experience working with big ideas and big companies and promoting sincere, effective communications. At Ethos3, we all believe in what we do and we like to think people know what we stand for (at the very least, we hate boring). If you’re like us, we hope you’ll gain some insights from the daily biz of designing presentations. The book comes out in mid-February, but you can pre-order a copy by clicking on the top right corner of our home page. Or just visit presentationgod.com, a domain name that mysteriously wasn’t taken.
