Microsoft Teams Presentation Mode Update

Microsoft has been hard at work adapting long-term solutions for remote workers. This tells us that even with the return to in-person work, Microsoft believes remote presentations will still play a central role. In addition to their PowerPoint Live and translation improvements, Microsoft is working to make Teams even better. The newest addition to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap is a presentation mode update. It’s set to roll out at the end of July, and we’ve got some exciting details for you.

Presentation Mode Update

Do ever feel awkward in a virtual presentation, wondering if users are watching your video tile, paying attention to your slide deck, or checked out altogether? Well, Microsoft Teams is working to give you options, so you have a few tricks up your sleeve. It turns out that a lot of presenters have been feeling that same awkwardness. Microsoft has been working to improve this by creating a new presentation mode update. This update’s two exciting features include “report” and “side-by-side” modes.

Report Mode

The first presentation mode we are excited about gives you the chance to finally live your news anchor dreams! Whether you’ve always secretly wanted to be a weatherman (or weather-woman!), a morning host, or a late-night newscaster, here’s your chance! This new update will feature the option to have your slide deck right over your shoulder while you present. Get your pointer fingers ready, and don’t forget to practice! This may take some getting used to, but could really enhance your presentation. With the ability to humanize the viewing experience for your audience, it should make your pitch seem more “live”.

Side-by-Side Mode

Feeling even more awkward with the idea of having to point and gesture over your shoulder? No problem. The news anchor life isn’t for everyone. Microsoft also rolled out the side-by-side presentation mode. Giving you the ability to be on screen next to your slides, this mode ensures control over the viewing experience for your audience. We believe that what makes a presentation come to life is always the person presenting. Yes, you can have beautiful, clear visuals, but they are undoubtedly affected by the beating heart behind the slides. Side-by-side mode ensures they can see your excited facial expressions, charming smiles, and maybe even a sarcastic nod or two for some humor.

No matter which presentation mode you choose, own your options. Take some time to explore these features once they roll out. Grab a friend or colleague and see what you can come up with. The more you practice your presentation, the better the experience for your audience—guaranteed. We’d love to be a part of your presentation growth! Let us know if you need help with messaging, visuals, or delivery, and we’ll customize a project for you! One of our presentation experts will have a quote for you within two hours of your chat!
